Cleveland Crunch Remain at Top of League Standings with Win Over Red Cedar FC
The Cleveland Crunch traveled to Michigan this weekend to take on the Red Cedar FC and came out on top with a 15-3 win. With the win, Cleveland advances to 7-1 in the regular season and 4-0 on the road.
The Crunch came out strong with Defender Omar Najjar finding the back of the net off an assist from Ma’Cain Spragling just 24 seconds into the match. The Crunch secured four goals in the fourth quarter from Spragling, David Jordan (twice) and Aidan Bozak, bringing them to a 5-0 lead. The momentum continued in the second quarter as Gabriel Pewu, Spragling and Bozak each added another goal, extending Cleveland’s lead to 8-0 going into halftime.
The Crunch came out strong in the second half with Pedro Tzul and Kevin Blackwood adding two to the board to extend the lead 10-0. Red Cedar FC managed to get on the board with two goals from Aidan Bagley, but Jordan quickly responded with his third goal of the night. In the final frame, the Crunch sealed the win with goals from Chris Cvecko, Najjar and Parker Csiszar (twice).
Goalkeeper Liam McIntosh had 15 saves and allowed zero goals in one half of play. He earned the MetroHealth Man of the Match honors. Rookie Carter Richardson made his debut for the Cleveland Crunch while Kevin Blackwood and Michael Presby both returned to the lineup following long-term injuries from last season.
