Cleveland Crunch Defeats Summit City United in Season Opener, Winning 16-1
Fort Wayne, Indiana (January 4, 2025) – The Cleveland Crunch began their 2025 Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) season with a 16-1 victory against Summit City United. The Crunch’s performance featured goals from nine players.
Match Highlights
Admir Suljevic opened the scoring nine minutes into the game, followed by goals from Boban Cancar, Parker Csiszar (assisted by Ryan Minick), Bryan Wolanski and Omar Najjar (assisted by Gabriel Pewu). At the end of the first quarter, the Crunch held a 6-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Suljevic scored twice more—one from a penalty kick and another off an assist from Najjar—bringing the Crunch’s lead to 8-0 by halftime.
The scoring continued in the third quarter with goals from team captain Dave Jordan, Antonio Manfut, MaCain Spragling, and a second from Jordan. Spragling also added a second goal, extending the lead to 13-0 going into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Najjar, Minick and Suljevic each scored, bringing Suljevic’s total to five goals on the night. Summit City United managed one late goal, but the Crunch’s play resulted in a final score of 16-1.
Suljevic’s five goals, two assists and eight points earned him MetroHealth Man of the Match honors.
